    Fire Alarm detection system is a combination of fire alarm control equipment and fire alarm indicating equipment. Fire Detection System detects the fire by means of sensing smoke, sudden rise in the temperature with electronic equipments; logically and hence produce output in the form of alarm by energizing the audio / visual devices. All components and interconnections between every fire alarm initiation point (call points and detectors) and every fire alarm device. Alarm receiving centre is a permanently manned centre, usually provided by a commercial organisation, the staff of which, upon receipt of a fire signal notify the fire service.

    Fire alarm systems are often used for other purposes as well as fire detection and alarm, such as bomb alert signaling, monitoring systems for high risk equipment or places, emergency call systems and even class change systems for schools. Sometimes fire detection and alarm systems are used to compensate for structural fire protection shortcomings or to give special cover for items of high value. Whatever the reason, an automatic fire detection and alarm system generally provides a network of manual call points, fire sensors and alarm warning devices over the area covered. It is, in effect, the eyes and mouth of the building to constantly monitor the building and warn if a fire breaks out, or is suspected. In the same way we do if we see flames or smell burning.
    Fire Alarm Panel: - Fire Alarm Panel is equipment which, on receipt of a fire signal, controls the giving of a fire alarm by one or more of the following:
    (a)fire alarm sounders
    (b)fire alarm indicating equipment
    (c) transmitting a signal to other fire alarm control equipment.

    Fire alarm panel is microprocessor based unit which sends and receives signal from field devices connected to it and process these signals for appropriate action in case of the fire. All the detectors and modules are hard wired into a circuit or zone in the FAP. FAP supply operating voltage to these detectors and modules. FAP continuously monitors every device by regular time interval. Detectors signal a fire condition to the FAP by changing from high to low impedance. FAP detects this impedance change by current monitoring and identifies the zone. Depending on the signal priority FAP generate the alarm and turn on the hooters or output device. Basically fire alarm panel works on the current variation principle that is in the normal condition current driven by panel is stable, where as in alarm condition the current output of the panel changes and this change in the current is monitored by the panel.
